Watch National Science Olympiad opening, closing ceremonies via livestream

The University of Wisconsin–Madison, host for the the 27th annual Science Olympiad National Tournament, which runs May 18-21, will offer a live web videocast of the Friday, May 20 tournament opening ceremony and Saturday, May 21 closing ceremony.

More than 6,000 middle- and high-school participants, educators and parents from all 50 states will be on the UW–Madison campus for the prestigious competition. Held Saturday, May 21, it features more than two dozen challenges in science, technology, engineering and math.

Highlights of the Friday,May 20 opening ceremony, which begins at 6 p.m. Central Daylight Time, include an Olympics-style parade of participating teams, a lively concert by the famed UW Marching Band, and three fast-paced science and physics shows that are both entertaining and educational.

At the Saturday, May 21 closing ceremony, which begins at 7 p.m. Central Daylight Time, organizers will announce spirit award recipients, medal winners, team awards and tournament champions.

Public audiences are invited to attend the Saturday, May 21 National Science Olympiad competition free of charge.
