Weather watching for busy people
You probably don't have time to gaze up at the sky all day as the weather changes. Fortunately, cameras stationed atop the Atmospheric, Oceanic and Space Sciences building are doing it for you. In this time-lapse video, you can see why in Wisconsin we say, "If you don't like the weather ... wait a minute."
Switched-on art
Neon has come a long way since the days when its typical use was for signs with succinct messages such as "EAT." The 2018 Neon Light Show, held in the UW Stock Pavilion on April 21, included glass sculptures and artwork created by more than 45 artists from UW–Madison, Alfred University (New York), Brooklyn Glass (New York), the Art Institute of Chicago, and many artists from Wisconsin.
Reaching out to prospective students
The Office of Student Financial Aid at the University of Wisconsin–Madison held a community event for prospective students at the Goodman Branch of the Madison Public Library. The event was designed to inform prospective college students about admissions and financial assistance.

Students and members of the Madison community partner in step and hone their Argentine tango skills during a UW Tango Club dance lesson and practicum at Union South. The student organization meets weekly most Thursdays during the academic year, and welcomes participation from the public.
Summer school
A school of koi gathers around the bridge over the Pond Garden of Allen Centennial Garden on the west side of the UW–Madison campus on a brilliant late summer day. Local weather forecasts call for high temperatures in or near the 80s through the first day of fall, Sept. 22.
Another big night for Badger volleyball
The Wisconsin Badgers volleyball team defeated the Washington State Cougars during second round play in the NCAA Division 1 championship at the UW Field House Friday night. The Badgers swept the Cougars, 3-0, and advanced to the Sweet 16 regionals, to be hosted at the Field House Dec. 9-10.
Election Day on campus
Gordon Dining and Event Center was abuzz with Election Day activity as one of the polling places where a predominantly student population cast ballots for president, U.S. senator, and local officials Nov. 8.
Discussing ‘Evicted’
Students and faculty in the Sociology Department gather in the Sewell Social Science Building to hear sociologist Matthew Desmond, author of the 2016-2017 Go Big Read selection "Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City," speak on Nov. 2. Go Big Read (GBR), a common-reading program, is designed to engage students, faculty, staff and the community in a shared, academically focused reading experience.
A bold climb that changed the world
Students in the Chadbourne Residential College (CRC) and the Multicultural Learning Community (MLC) participate in a social justice workshop hosted by social activist Bree Newsome on Oct. 12, 2016. Newsome asked the students to think about a time that they felt powerful and provide them with insights and a history of social justice.
Red threads
Badger backers make their way through smoke machines as they enter the stadium tunnel during the Night of the New Red Threads Under Armour launch party at Camp Randall Stadium on June 30. The event marked the beginning of a new $96 million, 10-year apparel partnership between Wisconsin Athletics and Under Armour.
International flavor
More than 300 people attend the third annual South Madison International Community Night, held on the grounds of Villager Mall in Madison on June 2, 2016. The free community event included five international food carts, several musical performances and more than 20 family-friendly arts and science activities.

Friendly fire
UW Arboretum land care staff member Austin Pethan uses a drip torch as a 10-person staff manages a prescribed fire at Juniper Knoll on March 29. Fire is used as a wildland management tool to help control competing vegetation, reduce potential buildup of excess flammable materials, and perpetuate fire-dependent species.

High winds didn't deter hundreds of people from enjoying a nighttime walk amid six custom-made luminaries and lanterns at the Allen Centennial Garden Feb. 19.
